A partner in the Litigation Department, Robert P. Parker represents clients in complex litigation, intellectual property, international trade and federal regulatory matters.
In addition to litigating a wide variety of matters in federal district courts, the Court of International Trade, and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings, Mr. Parker has appeared before the International Trade Commission, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Election Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Mr. Parker currently represents DVD Format/Logo Licensing Corp. in antitrust and intellectual property lawsuits relating to the specifications for the standard DVD formats and the familiar DVD logo. He represents Doosan Infracore Co., Ltd. in matters relating to its 2007 acquisition of Bobcat, and MasterCard in a putative California state class action. His recent representations include Nichia Corp. in a patent litigation involving blue laser technology, Nidec Corp. in a patent litigation involving spindle motors, and NEC Corp. in connection with the Intel v. AMD antitrust litigation. He also has represented SES Americom, De Beers Diamond Jewellers, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co., Hitachi Metals, Amtrak, Americable, Foreign Credit Insurance Association, Academy for Educational Development, Carnival Corp., Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools, and other clients in domestic and international disputes involving commercial, regulatory, and intellectual property issues.
Working with clients’ management and directors, Mr. Parker has played a leading role in a number of major internal corporate investigations, including Fannie Mae, Xerox Corp., The Boeing Company and Rent-a-Center. He served as counsel to the Rudman Committee which, in 1995, recommended changes to the governance and structure of the National Association of Securities Dealers and the Nasdaq Stock Market.
Mr. Parker is a past president of the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association and has served as chairman of the National Council for Adoption. Mr. Parker was counsel to the chairman of the International Trade Commission from 1988-91.
