IFR Quotes Kelley Cornish in Article Naming AbitibiBowater Restructuring as Deal of the Year

The International Financing Review (IFR) quotes bankruptcy partner Kelley A. Cornish in an article that names the restructuring of AbitibiBowater as "IFR's Americas Restructuring Deal of the Year." At last night's IFR Americas Awards ceremony, the publication formally recognized Steve Zelin, Senior Managing Director of The Blackstone Group and financial advisor to AbitibiBowater on the transaction.

"Creditors always threaten [a liquidation] but there was a real compelling case for different pools of creditors going their separate ways," said Kelley, crediting Blackstone for coming up with the plans to keep the company together. Kelley, who led the Paul, Weiss team advising AbitibiBowater in connection to the restructuring, and bankruptcy partner Alice Belisle Eaton attended the inaugural awards ceremony as Steve's guests.
