An associate in the Litigation Department, John Longwell represents clients in complex commercial litigation, with particular focus in the areas of antitrust and securities law. Significant recent matters include the defense of major financial institutions in regulatory and private proceedings arising out of the credit crisis, a major settlement in favor of a public pension fund in a case of actuarial malpractice, and dismissal of an antitrust challenge to intellectual property licensing practices of electronic media patent holders. In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Longwell regularly files briefs in the United States Supreme Court on matters of particular importance to clients and their industry associations.

Mr. Longwell is an adjunct professor at the George Washington University Law School, where he teaches antitrust law. Prior to returning to Paul, Weiss, he spent two years as executive vice president and general counsel of a publicly-traded marketing services company.
