An associate in the Litigation Department, Joshua Rothstein focuses his practice on internal investigations and general litigation matters.

Prior to re-joining Paul, Weiss, Mr. Rothstein served as special counsel and special assistant to the general counsel of the Department of Defense. During this time, he worked on issues related to the closure of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Military Commissions Reform, “Don't Ask Don't Tell” repeal, and the Law of War. For his public service, Mr. Rothstein was presented the Award for Outstanding Achievement by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Mr. Rothstein served as a volunteer on the Obama for America foreign policy team.

Mr. Rothstein was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and head notes editor for the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. He was a summer associate at Paul, Weiss in 2005.
