Paul Weiss's International Pro Bono Work Noted in The American Lawyer
The American Lawyer's July issue highlights Paul Weiss's recent pro bono work for the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation. According to the article, 23 corporate lawyers and litigators from the New York, London and Paris offices spent a total of 839 hours on the project last year, leading multiparty negotiations over a hosting agreement for UNITAID with the World Health Organization. As the article notes, these negotiations are the first step toward getting UNITAID, an international drug purchase facility, on its way. Corporate partner Marco Masotti was quoted in the article saying, "The kind of work that UNITAID involved, dealing with governments at a very high level, that's very hard to come by."
