Brad Karp and Karen Dunn Featured in Vault Q&A on Paul, Weiss’s General Commercial Litigation Practice

June 28, 2023

Firm Chairman Brad Karp and litigation partner Karen Dunn were featured in a Q&A on Paul, Weiss’s General Commercial Litigation Practice in the 2023 edition of “Practice Perspectives: Vault’s Guide to Legal Practice Areas.” In the Q&A, Brad and Karen discuss their paths to becoming litigators, examples of the types of cases they handle, and recommended training and development for those wishing to enter the practice.

“People join our litigation practice from all academic backgrounds, but a track record of academic excellence is a baseline for future success,” Brad says. “So much of what you learn in litigation is ‘on the job’ training, so I tell law students to seek out a firm like Paul, Weiss that offers the best training, professional skills development, and the chance to work with the world’s best, most talented trial lawyers.”

Brad and Karen also share some unique aspects of practicing as a litigator at Paul, Weiss and what they like best about the practice area, among other topics.

“Trial work is a team sport,” Karen says. “I regularly try cases with a small group of hyper-talented, wonderful people with whom I have worked over many years; I call us a ‘trial SWAT team.’ We have a lot of fun together, even when the cases are high stress, and we are good at what we do because we love doing it.”

Vault’s “Practice Perspectives,” which was released this month, offers insights from lawyers at top-ranked law firms on practicing law in more than 20 different practice areas.
