General Atlantic Investment in $3.8 Billion Asset Management Transaction in Latin America

Paul, Weiss advised General Atlantic in the $3.8 billion asset management acquisition of ING Group's Latin American pension and wealth management business, which closed on December 29, 2011. General Atlantic was part of a consortium of investors that included Grupo Sura, a large publicly traded Colombian conglomerate that led the deal, Grupo Bolivar, Banco Colombia and IFC. The transactions will result in the creation of the largest pension fund player in Latin America with one of the most important insurance and investment operations in the region.

The Paul, Weiss team advising General Atlantic included M&A partners Matthew W. Abbott and Paul D. Ginsberg, and counsel Ji Lu and Nathan R. Pusey; capital markets partner Mark S. Bergman; tax partner Richard J. Bronstein; and financing partner Dale M. Sarro.
