For over 30 years, Doug has represented borrowers, commercial banks, equipment lessors, investment banks, insurance companies, bondholder groups and distressed debt investors in workout and bankruptcy matters. His work has encompassed out-of-court restructurings, "prepackaged" and contested bankruptcies, monoline rehabilitations and bankruptcy-related litigations. He has extensive experience with the acquisition of companies out of bankruptcy.

Matters with which he has had a significant involvement include Lehman Brothers, Ambac, Neways, Mervyn's, Enron, NRG Energy, GST Telecom, Rhythms Net Connections, Contifinancial Corporation, Western Pacific Airlines, El Paso Electric Company, Anacomp, Reading & Bates, Garden Way Incorporated and International Harvester.

Doug has also worked on the bankruptcy aspects of a significant number of securitizations. These deals have covered such assets as hotels, casinos, franchises, copyrights, trademarks and patents, as well as more traditional retail and trade receivables. He has led the firm's practice of issuing bankruptcy opinions to support these deals, and is also a member of the Opinion Committee of the firm's Corporate Department. Finally, he has also provided extensive consultations in the areas of loan documentation, deal structuring, indenture interpretation, secured transactions and general bankruptcy advice.
