Guantánamo Bay Lawyers Work to Get Clients Released

Paul Weiss's efforts on behalf of its Guantánamo Bay clients is noted in this month's American Lawyer "Bar Talk" section. The article, "Summer in Sana," indicates that a number of U.S. lawyers have traveled to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen to visit clients' families and garner local support. Partner Julia Tarver and several other Paul, Weiss attorneys were among the lawyers that traveled to the Middle East. Julia said, "[Some family members] said, 'Why are you doing his?' We had to explain the concept of pro bono representation."
