Robbie Kaplan Publishes Law Review Article Concerning the Recognition of Same-Sex Marriages

Litigation partner Robbie Kaplan recently published a law review article examining the Court of Appeals' decision in Godfrey v. Spano, where the issue of marriage recognition of same-sex couples was presented to the Court of Appeals. "A Troubling Exercise of Indecision," which appeared in Volume 73 of the Albany Law Review, discusses the effect of the Court's decision and argues that the Court left unnecessary ambiguity in the law regarding the recognition of out-of-state marriages between same-sex couples given that well-established common law principles of comity compel recognition of such marriages.
