An associate in the Corporate Department at the Hong Kong office, Mr. Baid’s practice is focused on private equity, real estate, mergers and acquisitions and cross-border financing transactions. He has been involved in transactions across Asia, including, in India, China and the Philippines. Mr. Baid has broad experience advising institutional investors on their investments and exits in India, and in the structuring of complicated private equity and financing transactions.
In the real estate sector, Mr. Baid has represented several real estate funds on their project level and entity level investments. He has substantial experience in the hospitality and leisure sectors representing hotel owners on projects which have involved international brands, including Starwood, Marriott and Kosmopolito.
Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Mr. Baid worked in the Hong Kong office of another leading U.S. law firm.
Mr. Baid received his Masters of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Corporate Laws from the New York University School of Law. He received his Bachelors of Laws degree (LL.B.) (J.D. equivalent) from the Government Law College in Mumbai. Mr. Baid has studied Private International Law at The Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands where he received a full scholarship from the Hague Academy. He qualified as a Solicitor in India (affiliated with the Bombay Incorporated Law Society) winning multiple academic merit awards.
Mr. Baid is qualified to practice in the State of New York and is also an Advocate in India (currently non-practicing). He is a native English and Hindi speaker.
