Mark Pomerantz Participates in Annual "First Monday" Program and To Receive Gould Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy

Litigation partner Mark Pomerantz took part in the Office of the Appellate Defender's annual "First Monday" mock U.S. Supreme Court argument on October 5. Mark and his opponent argued a case that involved a defendant who was seeking to overturn his narcotics conviction because his defense lawyer allegedly misadvised him about whether he would face deportation if he pleaded guilty.

In addition, Mark received the Gould Award from the New York University School of Law at the sixteenth annual awards ceremony. He was honored as one of two of the nation's premier oral advocates. The award is dedicated by the Office of the Appellate Defender in honor of Milton S. Gould, a legendary advocate at both the trial and appellate levels, in recognition of Mr. Gould's contributions to law and the art of oral advocacy.

Mark is the fifth Paul Weiss partner to receive this award, which also has been given to Jeh Johnson, Martin London, Jay Topkis, and Ted Wells.
