Paul, Weiss Secures $170 Million Patent Infringement Verdict for General Electric

As reported by Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal and other news sources, Paul, Weiss secured a $170 million patent infringement verdict from a Texas federal jury yesterday for General Electric.

The case, General Electric Company v. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries et al., involved a patent covering a technology that helps wind turbines stay connected to a power grid when the grid's voltage drops to zero. After a seven-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the jury found that the patent-in-suit was valid and infringed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas' wind turbine technology.

The Paul, Weiss team included litigation partners Nicholas Groombridge and David J. Ball Jr.
