Paul, Weiss was awarded a 2016 “Deal of the Year” by Asian-mena Counsel for our involvement as international counsel in MUFG’s groundbreaking TLAC (total loss-absorbing capacity) bond offering. The $5 billion bond offering was the first offering by an Asian financial institution of bonds intended to qualify as TLAC debt under the Financial Stability Board’s TLAC standard for globally systemically important banks. Asian-mena Counsel is a monthly publication of the In-House Community, an association of 21,000 in-house lawyers focusing on legal and compliance issues in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
