Silver Wheaton Closes $800 Million Public Offering

Paul, Weiss client Silver Wheaton Corporation, a mining company that is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia and generates revenue from the sale of silver and gold, completed a public offering in Canada and the United States of 38,930,000 common shares for gross proceeds of approximately U.S. $800 million. The syndicate of underwriters was led by Scotiabank. The net proceeds of the offering will be used to fund Silver Wheaton's acquisition of an additional 25 percent gold stream from Vale S.A.'s Salobo Mine, located in Brazil.

The Paul, Weiss team, which served as U.S. counsel to Silver Wheaton, included corporate partner Andrew Foley and counsel Stephen Centa; tax partner David Mayo; and environmental counsel William O'Brien.
