Description of Program and Relief

Alaska Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993

This program provides employees with 12 weeks of job-protected leave to take care of oneself or a loved one because of a serious health condition. Although no specific guidance has issued with respect to COVID-19, persons adversely impacted by COVID-19 and meet general eligibility requirements should be qualified to apply.

Effective immediately.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Employees must have worked for at least one year, and for 1,250 hours over the previous 12 months.

Employees may only request leave pursuant to a limited set of reasons involving serious health injury and may be required to give advance notice of leave, as well as medical documentation.
