Description of Program and Relief
Alaska Family Leave Act of 1992
This law provides public employees of the State of Alaska and its subdivisions with up to 18 weeks of job-protected leave to take care of oneself or a loved one because of a serious health problem. Although no specific guidance has issued with respect to COVID-19, persons adversely impacted by COVID-19 and meet general eligibility requirements should be qualified to apply.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions
Public employees of the State of Alaska and its subdivisions are eligible if they have been employed for at least 35 hours a week for at least six consecutive months or for at least 17.5 hours a week for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the leave.
Employees may only request leave pursuant to a limited set of reasons and may be required to give advance notice of leave, as well as medical documentation.
