Description of Program and Relief

State Tax Deferrals for Small Businesses

The Iowa Economic Development Authority and Department of Revenue are offering eligible Iowa businesses the chance to apply for a deferral on paying state sales and withholding taxes. The Iowa Director of Revenue announced that a second round of applications for tax deferrals are now being accepted through June 30, 2020. The second round of the state tax deferral program is available for the tax periods beginning April 1, 2020 through June 30, 2020.

Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

Applicants for tax deferrals must be experiencing business disruptions due to COVID-19 and must have a physical location in Iowa. Applicants must also timely file sales and withholding tax returns. Failure to timely file tax returns will disqualify an applicant from the program.
