In this month’s M&A at a Glance, we review the most significant trends in M&A activity for the month of May. While May was relatively flat relative to April, there was a significant increase in sponsor-related activity both globally and in the U.S. (65.3% and 156.6% by volume, respectively). Global strategic activity was generally in line with the overall M&A market, with volume declining by 7.7% and the number of deals increasing by 6.7%. However, U.S. strategic volume declined by 45.9%, while the number of deals increased more modestly, by 7.7%.
