In this month’s M&A at a Glance, we review the most significant trends in M&A activity for the month of September. Global deal volume by total value and deal count increased by 1.5% and 6.7%, respectively. In the U.S. market, deal volume decreased by 31.2%, but the number of deals increased by 7.8%. Globally and in the U.S., strategic activity generally increased while sponsor-related activity generally decreased, with U.S. sponsor-related deal volume hitting a 12-month low. Among other highlights: Crossborder activity increased globally and in the U.S. (outbound) by 51.0% and 58.3%, respectively. The Aerospace industry was the most active target industry for the first time in the history of the M&A at a Glance. Tender offers constituted a greater percentage of U.S. public mergers at 30.0%; above the 12-month average of 19.7%.
