An associate in the Litigation Department, Arianna Markel has experience in a wide range of complex civil litigation and criminal defense matters, including securities litigation, cybersecurity, white-collar defense and internal investigations, antitrust class actions, bankruptcy disputes, merger litigation, and employment investigations and litigation. Arianna has significant experience litigating in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. She has represented leading companies in the fields of finance, law, publishing, and technology, among others.
Arianna maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented individuals in both criminal defense and affirmative civil actions. Recently, she successfully represented, on appeal, a client whose conviction was reversed and vacated on grounds that his guilty plea was not knowing or voluntary, and assisted another client in securing an executive pardon of his prior convictions in order to achieve relief from deportation. In addition, Arianna has represented individual and class action plaintiffs in civil rights litigation involving prisoners’ rights, disability rights, and housing discrimination. She has also drafted amicus briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court and federal appellate courts on behalf of pro bono clients.
