Paul, Weiss is one of the world's leading law firms and is a great place to build your career. Our 500 lawyers serve clients in virtually every area of the law and every region of the world, providing each client with an unsurpassed level of legal expertise. While we are counsel to some of the largest publicly and privately held corporations and financial institutions in the United States and throughout the world, we also represent numerous start-up companies, foreign governments, private equity firms and entrepreneurs.
At Paul, Weiss, we believe that practicing law should not only be challenging, but also enjoyable. As a result, we have made a conscious effort to maintain a diverse mix of clients by size, industry and location. Our firm culture provides our lawyers with a high-energy, engaging environment that fosters camaraderie and teamwork among lawyers—yet always with the understanding that your professional career is of the utmost importance. We also maintain an informal atmosphere: doors are almost always open, dress is business casual and first names are used for everyone. We enjoy each other as colleagues, and often, as friends.
A Global Presence
The greatest change we've experienced in the last decade has been the internationalization of our practice — a phenomenon that has touched every area of the firm. In addition to the high volume of work we do in New York and Washington for foreign clients, we have established ourselves in Europe and the Far East with offices in London, Tokyo, Beijing and Hong Kong.
New York: From the firm’s founding, our New York office has remained the largest and serves as the hub of the firm’s activities. Located in midtown Manhattan, the New York practice is organized into eight departments: Corporate, Litigation, Bankruptcy, Entertainment, Environmental, Personal Representation, Real Estate and Taxation.
Washington: Our Washington practice provides clients with the full range of legal resources needed to resolve almost any "Washington problem" — whether that problem involves the executive branch and independent regulatory agencies, the federal courts, Congress or some combination of the three. The office serves as a focal point for much of the firm's work in the areas of international trade, telecommunications, administrative law, antitrust, legislation and corporate governance, and works closely with the New York and international corporate, litigation and tax practices.
London: Our London office focuses on three of the firm’s core corporate practices, adapted to the European marketplace, including capital markets transactions involving European issuers, private equity/private M&A transactions in Europe and cross-border M&A transactions. The office is an integral part of the firm's global network, reflecting the pre-eminent role of London in the world's financial markets.
Greater China: Hong Kong and Beijing: Paul, Weiss has what is generally acknowledged to be one of the most dynamic and longstanding practices in Greater China. The Hong Kong and Beijing offices are very active in advising U.S., international and Chinese companies in relation to their direct investment opportunities throughout Asia, as well as handling other corporate matters such as capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, project finance and technology. We also assist Chinese and international companies in resolving disputes and handling regulatory matters that arise in conjunction with their U.S. operations. These offices are currently engaged in client representations in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand and India.
Tokyo: Paul, Weiss has one of the premier practices in Japan, advising many of Japan's most prominent trading companies, financial institutions, and telecommunications, computer and industrial companies on transactions, disputes and other matters. With support from the New York, Washington and London offices, the firm also advises Japanese clients on significant litigation and trade dispute matters.
