Mark Pomerantz Named The Am Law “Litigator of the Week”

Retired litigation partner Mark Pomerantz was named "Litigator of the Week" by The Am Law Litigation Daily following a December 10 ruling in which the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit overturned the government's insider trading convictions against former hedge fund traders Anthony Chiasson and Todd Newman.
Pomerantz, who argued the appeal for Mr. Chiasson, said he was confident the law on "remote tippees," who are multiple steps removed from the sources of their tips, favored the defendants, but that momentum had previously been on the prosecutors' side. Pomerantz is quoted as saying "It was like a little spark, and we had to add tinder, and carefully fan it, and then we kept adding to it until it turned into a major conflagration."
