Leticia highlighted the business community’s response to the recent earthquake, noting that private sector commitments to relief and reconstruction have exceeded $320 million. Looking ahead, she expressed optimism about Colombia’s economic prospects, citing the government’s market-friendly direction while noting that successful implementation of its agenda will depend on navigating a divided congress. Leticia also observed that M&A activity is likely to increase, as confidence in the market continues to strengthen. “Local players tend to move first since they know the market and don’t need the consensus that private equity and strategic buyers do,” she says.
