Private Credit Remains a Robust Asset Class, David Hepp Tells Pensions & Investments

Head of Asset Management M&A David Hepp spoke with Pensions & Investments about the outlook for private credit following a busy first half of 2026 for the asset management industry. In “Janus Henderson Is Off the Market. Here’s Where Dealmakers Are Looking Next,” published on June 30, David explains that recent concerns around private credit and the subsequent pullback in alternatives managers’ share prices are unlikely to dissuade potential suitors. 

“I think private credit remains a really attractive asset class at a macro level,” David says.

Rather than a deterrent, David adds, firms increasingly see the current environment as a chance to build: “I think what you’re seeing is, people in private credit, they view this as an opportunity to expand their capabilities.”
