An associate in the Antitrust Department, Daniel Muheme advises clients on all aspects of EU competition law. Daniel’s practice focuses on merger control, including the EU’s Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), and representing clients before the European Commission and national competition authorities.

Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Daniel worked as an associate at other global law firms in Brussels. He has also worked as a legal intern at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Office of International Affairs and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition, where he focused on antitrust issues in the media sector of the Mergers and Telecommunication Unit.

Daniel has contributed to numerous legal publications, including co-authoring a chapter, “Procedural Rights in EU Antitrust Proceedings”, in Procedural Rights in Competition Law in the EU and China (2016).

A selection of Daniel’s experience includes representing:*

  • DoorDash, Inc. in its £2.9 billion proposed recommended take-private of food delivery platform Deliveroo plc
  • GRAIL in the European Commission’s review of its $8 billion acquisition by Illumina, a landmark case concerning application of the referral powers under Article 22 of the EU Merger Regulation and associated gun-jumping, interim measures, restorative measures investigations, and litigation before the General Court and Court of Justice in Luxembourg
  • Apollo Global Management, funds managed by affiliates of Apollo and their portfolio companies, in the:
    • $3.6 billion acquisition of Barnes Group, Inc.; and
    • $1.45 billion Acquisition of Molycop together with Tega
  • Several global companies and private equity funds in connection with merger control and FSR filings, including FSR ex-officio proceedings and inspections
  • Several global companies in connection with cartel investigations by the European Commission
