A partner in the Corporate Department and a member of the Private Funds and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups, James King advises private fund sponsors on the full spectrum of strategic fund and sponsor transactional matters and liquidity solutions transactions, including GP minority stake transactions, fund and sponsor-level preferred equity transactions, joint ventures and other strategic acquisitions or disposals of asset management businesses, as well as the full spectrum of transactions in the private funds secondary market.
EXPERIENCE

- IK Partners on the sale of a controlling interest in the firm to Wendel

- PAI Partners on the strategic minority investment in its business by Dyal Capital
- Basalt Infrastructure Partners on the strategic investment made by Colliers into Basalt
- 17Capital on the strategic partnership with Oaktree, under which it sold a majority stake to Oaktree
- Montana Capital Partners on its sale to PGIM, the global asset management business of Prudential Financial
