A partner in the Corporate Department, Matthew is a member of the Private Funds Group. Matthew focuses his practice on the formation and operation of a wide variety of private investment funds, including buyout funds, hybrid funds, special situation funds, credit funds, distressed funds, co-investment funds, infrastructure funds and real estate funds. Matthew’s experience with private investment funds extends to the development and negotiation of the organizational documents of such funds and the preparation of their offering materials. In addition, Matthew has significant experience with respect to representing private funds in connection with co-investments and direct investments in private equity, infrastructure, real estate and other transactions. Matthew also advises leading global investment firms in their investment management M&A and other strategic transactions, including acquisitions and strategic partnership arrangements. Matthew has substantial experience in establishing customized private investment funds with respect to a range of U.S. and non-U.S. investors and advises on management company “upper tier” arrangements.
Matthew advised Apollo Global Management in the $24.7 billion final closing of its latest flagship fund, Apollo Investment Fund IX, the world’s largest private equity fund at the time, and has been a trusted advisor to Apollo and its managed funds and accounts for over a decade.
