As counsel in the Tax Department, Shane Milam counsels a wide range of private investment funds in all fund-related U.S. tax issues, including fund formation, acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, recapitalizations and refinancings. He also advises sovereign wealth funds and pension funds in matters relating to private equity investments, co-investments, managed accounts, joint ventures and acquisitions and dispositions.
Shane has significant cross-border experience, representing private funds and both public and private companies in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, financings and derivatives transactions, as well as advising clients on the implications of FATCA and working with the International Capital Markets Association to develop industry standard approaches to FATCA for capital markets transactions.
Some of Shane’s recent private funds clients have included CBRE Global Investment Partners; General Atlantic; I Squared Capital and TDR Capital, among others.
Shane has been recognized by a number of industry publications for his work in tax law, including The Legal 500.
In law school, Shane served as executive editor of the Journal of International Economic Law.
