Loretta Ippolito and Kimberly DeMaro Named to Volunteers of Legal Service’s Pro Bono Dean’s List

Personal representation partner Loretta Ippolito and counsel Kimberly DeMaro were named to the Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) 2023 Pro Bono Dean’s List, which recognizes 16 lawyers who have made a significant impact in providing pro bono legal assistance to under-resourced New Yorkers. VOLS highlighted Loretta and Kimberly’s work with low-income New Yorkers on estate planning.

In a Q&A accompanying the Dean’s List, Loretta discusses her pro bono experience. As a trusts and estate attorney, “I build relationships of trust with my clients by helping them navigate complex legal concepts so they can best arrange their affairs for the long run,” Loretta says. “It’s the same with my pro bono clients—you’re helping them deal with the really difficult end-of-life issues that they are deeply concerned about, including how and to whom to leave their assets; ensuring that the people they love are cared for, including, in some cases, minor children; and who will make their health care decisions if they’re unable to do so. You’re really giving them peace of mind.”

VOLS harnesses the power of New York City’s private bar and community-based organizations to provide free civil legal services.
