John Carlin to Convene With Global Cybersecurity Leaders at Aspen Institute’s Spring Meeting in Tokyo

Cybersecurity & Data Protection Chair John Carlin will participate in the Aspen Institute’s Global Cybersecurity Group Spring meeting, convened in collaboration with the Government of Japan’s National Cybersecurity Office. The invitation-only forum brings together current and former senior government officials, industry executives and security experts from leading technology companies to address challenges at the intersection of national security, technology and cyber policy. The discussions will inform policy recommendations for business, governments and international bodies.

The 2026 Tokyo dialogue will focus on defending critical infrastructure against cyberattacks and nation-state threats, disrupting transnational scam networks, coordinating cybersecurity efforts across all levels of government and mitigating risks posed by emerging AI capabilities. The meeting will also feature remarks from Japan’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Hisashi Matsumoto, and updates on the country’s Active Cyber Defense Law and national cybersecurity strategy.

John is the Founding Chair, now Chair Emeritus and Strategic Advisor, of the Aspen Institute’s Cybersecurity and Technology program.

The meeting will take place in Tokyo, May 25-27.
