Litigation partner Brette Tannenbaum was featured in a Vault article, published on May 4, discussing the firm’s sports litigation practice and how law students and junior lawyers can prepare for a career in sports law.
In “Inside Sports Litigation at Paul, Weiss: What Law Students Should Know,” Brette discusses the multidisciplinary nature of Paul, Weiss’s sports law practice, which draws on the firm’s litigation, antitrust, investigations and corporate practices. “Sports matters aren’t limited to a particular area of law,” Brette says. “They involve the same kinds of claims you see in other industries—antitrust, employment, IP, commercial disputes—but in a high-profile, high-visibility context with multiple stakeholders.”
Brette also emphasizes the importance of maturity and discretion for junior lawyers working on sensitive sports matters for high-profile clients. “Confidentiality is everything,” she notes. “Being able to handle that responsibility early in your career is essential.”
