Corporate partner Carmen Lu published an article, “The New Rules of Engagement: Trends Reshaping Shareholder Activism in 2026,” in Financier Worldwide’s April issue. In the article, Carmen examines five trends that are likely to influence shareholder activism this year and highlights considerations for companies navigating the rapidly shifting environment.
“The shareholder activism landscape is being reshaped by a resurgence of M&A-driven campaigns, a growing activist field, regulatory pressures on passive investors, settlement dynamics and the declining influence of proxy advisors,” Carmen says, adding that these trends could result in “greater activist focus on earlier constructive engagement with boards and management teams, and less dependence on the threat of a proxy contest.”
