Special Counsel David Fein participated in a fireside chat as part of Chainalysis’ Links London 2022 conference. David and Chainalysis Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Jonathan Levin discussed strategies for information sharing across the industry, banking risk management tools and the appeal of blockchain analysis for fighting financial crime. Chainalysis is a blockchain data platform that provides data, software, services and research to government agencies, exchanges, financial institutions, insurance and cybersecurity companies in over 60 countries.
“Banks have this responsibility to identify and report suspicious activity, but the status quo leaves the banks doing that in silos on their own,” David said. “While there are great, sophisticated systems and services and products, we’re often in the position of looking for a needle in a haystack. That’s a real shame because we have partners out there in the public sector who have the needles. With those needles, it’s amazing what the private sector can do in terms of effectiveness. Breaking down the silos between the public and private sectors is really important.”
