Paul, Weiss Attorneys Honored by The Legal Aid Society

The Legal Aid Society honored 32 current and former Paul, Weiss attorneys with the Pro Bono Publico Award for outstanding pro bono service. Last year, over 3,000 volunteers provided pro bono assistance to the clients and staff of The Legal Aid Society. Of those volunteers, just 300 were recognized with a Pro Bono Publico award.

Our attorneys were recognized for their work to defeat the Trump administration’s attempt to redefine the term “public charge” to deny poor immigrants access to admission, visas or green cards; their efforts, through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, to help tenants affected by the pandemic keep their homes; their work creating a special needs trust on behalf of a client with a disability and navigating the administration of the client’s mother’s estate; and their efforts to obtain humanitarian COVID-related release of immigrant detainees in Hudson County and transgender people incarcerated in New York State.

Recipients of the award include Teresa Akkara, Ameya Ananth, Natsumi Antweiler, Peter Baltera, Jeremy Benjamin, Farrah Berse, Andrew Ehrlich, Eric Felleman, David Giller, Hannah Gross, Alan Halperin, Steven Herzog, Makiko Hiromi, Jonathan Hurwitz, Jin Kim, Nina Kovalenko, Jessica Puterman, Walter Ricciardi, Walter Rieman, Ryan Rizzuto, Ariane Rockoff-Kirk, Alex Segal, Daniel Sinnreich, Audra Soloway, Ethan Stern, Margaret Sun, Johan Tatoy, William Taylor, Hillary Udow, Justin Ward and Keith Zheng.
