- Awards
- October 28, 2024
Litigation associate Tommy Rucker has been selected to receive the 2024 Exceptional Volunteer Award from the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless (WLCH). Founded in 1986, WLCH combines lawyering and advocacy to achieve justice for those in Washington, D.C., who are experiencing homelessness and poverty.
This year’s Exceptional Volunteer Award recognizes Tommy’s outstanding service and commitment to his WLCH clients, all of whom are experiencing persistent, vexing challenges in their access to affordable, safe housing. Tommy’s unwavering and effective advocacy has led to fantastic results for his many clients. For instance, this year, Tommy helped a family of four secure a housing voucher, obtained emergency rent assistance to help a client avoid eviction, and compelled a housing management company to determine that a client did not owe erroneously applied back rent.
Tommy’s commitment to WLCH has been a force multiplier in Paul, Weiss’s Washington office, bolstering the firm’s relationship with the organization and encouraging other associates to help combat housing instability.
