Paul, Weiss Partners with the City Bar Justice Center and BNY Mellon for a Pro Se Discovery Clinic

On November 2, Paul, Weiss, alongside the City Bar Justice Center and BNY Mellon, hosted a legal clinic for 10 pro se litigants, i.e., litigants who are not represented by an attorney, who have cases pending in the Eastern District of New York. Litigation partner Elizabeth Sacksteder gave an overview of the principal rules governing discovery under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the tools and strategies litigants can employ when seeking and responding to discovery in their own cases. Paul, Weiss and BNY Mellon attorneys then consulted one on one with the pro se litigants, providing individualized advice and answering questions about discovery-related issues in their pending actions. Litigation counsel Amy Barton, David Kessler and Peter Sandel and litigation associates Patrick Cordova, Alexandra Gordon, Chaka Laguerre and Henry Topper led these consultations. The clinic was coordinated by pro bono attorney Jeremy Benjamin.
