Paul, Weiss Closes Sale of Lee Friedlander Photographs and Archive to Yale

On April 1, Yale University and the Lee and Maria Friedlander Family Foundation completed a transaction whereby Yale acquired an expansive collection of Lee Friedlander materials. The Yale University Art Gallery purchased 1,800 Friedlander master photographs, and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library purchased 200 Friedlander master photographs and the Lee Friedlander Archive. This acquisition will make Yale the largest holder of Friedlander work by any museum. Yale announced today that this is an unprecedented resource for scholarship about one of America's foremost visual artists.
The Paul, Weiss team representing the Friedlander Family Foundation consisted of corporate of counsel Neale M. Albert and associate Danielle Gaier.
Mr. Friedlander has been a client of the firm for decades and Mr. Albert is a Director of the Friedlander Family Foundation. More than 50 photographs by Mr. Friedlander are in the Paul, Weiss art collection.
