Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced today that Joseph Glatt has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate Department, resident in New York. Glatt was formerly partner and general counsel for the credit arm of Apollo Global Management, a major alternative asset management firm.
“Joe has exceptional experience both working in private practice at leading law firms and in-house at one of the largest asset managers in the world,” said Paul, Weiss Chairman Brad S. Karp. “His perspective will be incredibly valuable to our clients across the firm, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our partnership.”
“We know Joe well. He is an excellent lawyer with a wide range of experience in important areas for our clients, and I’m happy to welcome him to Paul, Weiss,” said Scott A. Barshay, chair of the Paul, Weiss Corporate Department.
Most recently, Glatt was a partner in the Financial Institutions and Strategy Group at Apollo, where he focused on firm balance sheet investing and strategy, product innovation, capital formation, financial services, yield platforms and partnerships and various other debt and equity investments. Prior to this role, he spent over a decade serving as the general counsel of Apollo’s credit business, overseeing all corporate governance, transactional, insurance, regulatory and board matters. Throughout his time at Apollo, he also served as Chief Legal Officer and director for various investment platforms and permanent capital vehicles across the firm, advising on corporate governance, regulatory issues and other key operational and strategic matters. Glatt began his career working in mergers and acquisitions at two large law firms.
“I couldn’t be more excited to take the next step of my career at Paul, Weiss,” Glatt said. “The firm has excellent experience advising on the most complex transactions, fundraises, financings and more, and provides the commercial and holistic counsel that major asset managers rely on.”
Glatt earned his B.A. in Political Science, Psychology and Hebraic Studies, summa cum laude, from Rutgers University and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Educational Alliance, a New York-based community organization dedicated to eliminating economic opportunity gaps via high-quality educational experiences.
