Paul, Weiss won a significant victory for a pro bono client in court, obtaining an $1,800-per-month temporary order of spousal support under New York’s Family Court Act. Our client is an ailing, low-income mother of two developmentally disabled adult children who are currently unable to work or live independently. She is seeking spousal and adult-dependent support for herself and her sons.
This victory came at a critical time, as the children’s father had begun to withdraw even the limited support he had voluntarily provided. The temporary award represents a 70% increase over our client’s current monthly income and exceeds the costs that the father had previously paid. Trial on our client’s adult-dependent support petitions will resume in April.
Litigation associate Kathleen Pierre represents our client in family court. The Paul, Weiss team also includes litigation partner Staci Yablon.
