Katherine Forrest Speaks on Use of Copyrighted Works to Train AI

On April 19, litigation partner Katherine Forrest participated in a panel discussion on the use of copyrighted material to train machine learning models, hosted by The Copyright Society’s New York chapter. In “Using Copyrighted Works to Train AI: Fair Use or Just Plain Unfair?” the panel examined the complex and unique issues regarding the use of copyrighted materials in AI; the scope of the fair use doctrine on this matter; and recent copyright infringement suits asserting that using images to train AI services infringes copyright, among other topics.
