Litigation partner Jeh Johnson was profiled in The American Lawyer as a recipient of the 2021 “Lifetime Achievement Award.” The article, “An American Statesman: Jeh Johnson Has Devoted His Career to the Public Interest,” highlights his storied career in several high-profile government roles, including as the former Secretary of Homeland Security; his invaluable mentorship to many young lawyers; and his dedication to tackling challenging national issues such as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
The profile also noted his leadership of the Commission on Equal Justice in the Courts in reviewing institutional racism in the New York state court system that resulted in a 100-page report last year, including a series of recommendations that N.Y. Chief Judge Janet DiFiore has pledged to implement. “Throughout his career, Jeh Johnson has shown us time and again that lawyers have a special role to play in serving our democratic institutions and upholding the rule of law,” Judge DiFiore says in the piece.
