Brad Karp Discusses Paul, Weiss’s Recent Global Expansion and Investments in AI in LEADERS Magazine

April 2, 2024

In an interview with LEADERS Magazine, firm Chairman Brad Karp discusses Paul, Weiss’s recent expansion in London and Los Angeles and the impact of AI on the industry, among other topics.

In the interview in the “Shaping the Future” section of the publication’s April, May, June 2024 issue, Brad highlights the firm’s recent expansion of its already market-leading capabilities to enhance services to existing and new private equity clients in Europe and beyond. “In August, we had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring over the leading private equity-focused transactional teams in both London and Los Angeles,” he says. “Their arrival instantly cemented our top-tier status in private equity in both markets. We have since brought in the region’s preeminent antitrust and technology transactions lawyers – and we’re not done yet.”

Brad also notes the growing impact of AI and innovative technology on the practice of law, highlighting the firm’s stature nationally on AI and the law. Lawyers in the firm’s Digital Technology Group “are not just observers; they’re active participants in the AI field, speaking and writing about it, and providing unparalleled guidance on everything from legal issues and opportunities in AI, to the development of best practices,” he says. “We are leading the industry in this area.” Internally, Brad notes, the firm has established working groups to focus on how to use AI responsibly and effectively, and to assess and prepare for the impact generative AI could have on the delivery of legal services.
