Litigation partner Steve Baughman was named Vice President of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Bar Association on March 22, following an election held at the organization’s second annual conference in Washington, D.C. Formed through the collaboration and financial support of more than 45 law firms, including Paul, Weiss, the PTAB Bar Association serves as a forum for communications between the PTAB and other stakeholders, and aims to preserve and promote the highest professional and ethical standards among lawyers and stakeholders who appear before the PTAB. Steve, who helped form the Association and was one of its first officers, has been appearing at the PTAB since its first minutes of operation on September 16, 2012, and has been counsel of record on behalf of petitioners and patent owners in more than 160 inter partes review, covered business method review and post-grant review proceedings, including more than 50 proceedings argued through a final hearing. In 2013 Steve was named Law360’s first “IP MVP” based on work in PTAB trials.
