Litigation associate Katarina Broeksmit was recognized by The American Lawyer’s “Litigation Daily” column on July 22 for her win in a criminal pro bono case.
On July 20, Katarina won a rare reversal of a first-degree murder conviction for a pro bono client in the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department. Our client, who was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for her alleged part in a purported murder-for-hire conspiracy resulting in the death of her estranged husband, was granted a new trial. Also mentioned in the article were litigation partner Dan Kramer, who supervised the matter, associates Erin Morgan, Meaghan Brennan and Jacob Humerick, and pro bono attorney Jeremy Benjamin.
