Paul, Weiss Partners With City Bar Justice Center for Consumer Bankruptcy Clinic

Paul, Weiss partnered with the City Bar Justice Center (CBJC) to assist CBJC’s Consumer Bankruptcy Project through a limited-scope consumer bankruptcy clinic. The project works to meet the needs of low-income clients who are burdened with consumer debt by helping those clients navigate the bankruptcy process. For many clients, bankruptcy offers an opportunity for a fresh start.

After receiving a comprehensive training from CBJC, attorneys from Paul, Weiss’s restructuring group met with and counseled the pro bono clients on their rights and options with respect to their consumer debt, explained different types of consumer bankruptcies, and gathered information that CBJC will later use to counsel the clients as to whether they should file for bankruptcy or pursue another option.

The Paul, Weiss team included restructuring associates Alana Page, Alice Nofzinger, Julia Heasley, Lara Luo, Sam Baham and Xu Pang, and was supervised by restructuring partner Elizabeth McColm.
