Paul, Weiss Partners With Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts for Pro Bono Legal Clinic

Paul, Weiss attorneys partnered with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) for VLA’s Arts & Entertainment Legal Clinic. New York’s leading legal aid organization for artists, VLA works within the creative community to provide low-cost access to legal representation and education.

After an orientation from VLA, attorneys from Paul, Weiss consulted with VLA-assisted artists on a range of issues, including helping an organization that promotes socially engaged art with a grant program, an art dealer seeking advice on whether she is owed commission, and various artists with draft agreements and entity formation advice. The consultations were aimed at helping these artists, including musicians, visual artists and art dealers, continue to create and earn income from their work. Fourteen Paul, Weiss attorneys participated in this effort.

The Paul, Weiss team included corporate associates Jamal Bailey, Angela Gu, Dillon Holdsworth, Rong Jiao, Stephanie Kwan, Noah Light, Scott McGee, Tyler Necaise, Andrew Rodriguez, Gerald Shalam, Adrienne Tang, Lauren Toccalino, Irini Tsounakas and Tian Yang. The clinic was organized by pro bono attorney Emily Donohoe.
