Brad Karp Discusses the Importance of Collaboration and Innovation in LEADERS Magazine

January 3, 2023

LEADERS Magazine featured firm Chairman Brad Karp in the “Purpose” section of its January, February, March 2023 issue. In a Q&A, Brad discusses the keys to building long-lasting client relationships and how Paul, Weiss has continued to set incredibly high standards and evolve with clients through a focused business strategy, collaborative culture and thoughtful investment in innovative tools.

“Innovation is critical to Paul, Weiss’ continuing success” and to remaining competitive, Brad says. “We need to continually innovate and keep up with changing expectations around the use of technology.” Today, “clients look to us as business advisors, not just legal advisors. Our clients face unprecedented challenges, from market volatility and business disruptions related to supply chain issues and geopolitical conflict, to emerging issues including ESG, cybersecurity and data privacy, among many others. Our role is to bring a creative, adaptive mindset to each engagement so we can help our clients solve their most complex problems and achieve their most important business goals.” Brad notes that the firm is leveraging a variety of practice-area innovations to provide clients with practical guidance, including through the firm’s recently launched Civil Rights and Racial Equity Audit Group.

Brad also highlights the importance of service to others as an essential part of the practice of law. “The practice of law cannot be fully realized without service to those in need; it’s not just a commercial enterprise, but a noble profession,” he says. “Especially after a period when we were isolated due to COVID-19, we need to reengage, reconnect, and continue the fight for justice across all of its many battle lines.”

LEADERS Magazine, a forum for ideas and opinions of the world’s most influential people, features interviews with global executives.
