Global Private Funds Group Co-Head Marco Masotti spoke with Private Equity International about the decline in capital commitments from general partners from peak levels in 2021. In “GP Commitments Trend Down,” published on March 30, Marco highlights the challenges of the current fundraising market amid elevated interest rates, resulting in limited partners and investment professionals missing out on distributions. “As a result,” Marco says, “it’s pretty challenging for the professionals to commit a massive amount of dollars to the funds they are raising.” In established funds, GP commitments usually come from investment professionals or, in some cases, from GP stake investors.
