Private Funds Group Global Co-Head Marco Masotti spoke with The American Lawyer about what lies ahead for private equity fundraising in 2023. In “Deals or Bust: Corporate Lawyers Map Out Path Ahead for 2023,” Marco notes that despite the reported recent decline in fundraising, there are increased opportunities for funds lawyers to be innovative and resourceful.
“Funds are a market-oriented business,” Marco says. “So when there are challenges in the market and capital is more scarce, you need to be creative on how to use that capital that has been committed more effectively. Recycling provisions and flexibility in the terms of the fund are examples of this.”
